Market Applications

Omnitronics products are versatile and, in most cases, can be applied across a broad spectrum of markets. In this section you can find out how our products have been used in different markets. Our products include SELCAL encoders and decoders, CTCSS encoders and decoders, Radio Management Systems, Radio over IP and more - view our product range here.

Public Safety

Fire Brigades, Ambulance Services, Police, State Emergency Services

  • 950 System - Used to provide low cost radio management at small communications centers. Typically 2 to 10 operators sharing 3 to 6 PMR channels. Supports features such as foreground and background channel selection and channel linking.
  • DX64 system - Provides cost-effective integrated radio and telephone management with digital control using touch screen computers. Scalable from 8 to 56 channels and 2 to 32 operators. Features for public safety organisations include built-in rapid recall and radio/telephone patching. Also supports MPT1327 trunked radio.
  • 619 Audio Bridge - Both the 619EI and the 619SRI have been used to provide linking and routing of disparate radio systems. Organisations are able to build repeater and base sites with various makes of radio and provide gateways between associated services.
  • Site Monitoring - The Site Monitor package, part of the Argus Telemetry range, has been used by emergency services to monitor the status and performance of their radio networks.

Mining

  • Telemetry - Remote control and monitoring of machinery and processes over radio or landline. Usually point to multipoint applications. Case history includes: fan monitoring and control in tunnels; rock face slip detection, bearing monitoring of conveyor belts, environmental parameter monitoring; bore field control.
  • 950 System - Used to provide low cost radio management at mine sites. Typically 2 to 10 operators sharing 3 to 6 PMR channels. Supports features such as foreground and background channel selection and channel linking.
  • DX64 system - Provides cost-effective integrated radio and telephone management with digital control using touch screen computers. Scalable to suit the scope of mining operations and provides special features to manage emergency procedures (see news letter Issue 14).
  • 619 Audio Bridges - Used to dynamically re-configure a radio network for after hours operation.
  • 970 SELMON - Used to log SELCAL activity during mining operations for safety reviews later.

Oil & Gas

Drilling platforms, refineries, process control

  • 950 systems - used to provide low cost control of up to 6 radio channels by several operators. Channels can be derived from HF, Airband or marine bands. Supports features such as foreground and background channel selection and channel linking.
  • Argus Telemetry - Remote control and monitoring of processes over radio or landline. Usually point to multipoint applications. Case history includes: pipeline flow monitoring and shutdown control; critical monitoring of wellhead risers in hazardous environments.

Transport

Railways, Truck companies, Port Authorities, Aviation Authorities, Taxis & Bus companies

  • PS 915 - Used in vehicles to convert the 24Vdc supply to an isolated 12V output to power radio equipment.
  • 960 Handsets & Consoles - Used by taxis, bus and truck companies to allow a small number of operators to simply share a radio. An intercom facility enables operators located in different buildings or depots to talk to each other.
  • 950 System - Provides low cost radio management in organisations that need several operators to share up to six PMR channels. Typically 2 to 10 operators sharing 3 to 6 PMR channels. Supports features such as foreground and background channel selection, radio channel linking and operator intercom.
  • DX64 system - Provides cost-effective integrated radio and telephone management with digital control using touch screen computers. Scalable from 8 to 56 channels and 2 to 32 operators.
  • 619 SRI - Used to provide audio communications management within passenger rail vehicles.
  • Telemetry - Argus Telemetry coupled with a SCADA package provides monitoring of rail transport equipment. Case history includes: remote monitoring of both DED (Dragged Equipment Detected) sites and hot box detectors (for wagon axles) along railway lines.

Energy Distribution

Electricity & Gas providers

  • 950 System - Used to provide low cost radio management at small communications centers. Typically 2 to 10 operators sharing 3 to 6 PMR channels. Supports features such as foreground and background channel selection, radio channel linking and operator intercom.
  • DX64 system - Provides cost-effective integrated radio and telephone management with digital control using touch screen computers. Scalable from 8 to 56 channels and 2 to 32 operators. Also provides the ability to interconnect several small centres together using IP.
  • 619 Audio Bridges - Used to build repeater sites that can be dynamically re-configured by remote DTMF or SELCAL control.

Manufacturing

Sugar Mills, Timber Mills, Industrial Automation

  • 960 Handsets & Consoles - Most cost-effective way of allowing a small number of operators to simply share a radio. An intercom facility enables operators located in different buildings or depots to talk to each other.
  • 950 System - Provides low cost radio management in organisations that need several operators to share up to six PMR channels. Supports features such as foreground and background channel selection, radio channel linking and operator intercom.
  • Telemetry - Remote control and monitoring of machinery and processes over radio or landline. Case history includes: umbilical cord replacement for wireless control of manufacturing processes; brake van control systems for sugar cane trains.

Telecommunications

  • 920 & 925 - Used by telephone and radio service providers and broadcasters to interconnect communications equipment over leased lines.
  • 619 Audio Bridges - Used by radio service providers to provide a switching capability at various nodes (or sites) within a network.

Local Government & Not for Profit Organisations

Water Management, Councils, Schools, Associations

  • 960 Handsets & Consoles - Used by taxis, bus and truck companies to allow a small number of operators to share a radio. An intercom facility enables operators located in different buildings or depots to talk to each other.
